serious cyclones
Serious cyclones
I have been researching about natural disasters, but mostly cyclones here are some facts about cyclones. Did you know every cyclone has a name after a girl.
How it happens:
Cyclones form over warm areas like water but the water has to be over the heat of 25 degrees. Cyclones use warm moist air as their fuel. They only form near the equator. Then the cyclone rises upward close to the surface.
Parts of a cyclone:
Cyclones need warm, rising air which helps form the shape of a cyclone. They also need rain bands, the eye wall and the eye. Cyclones can grow as big as two cities.
How to get through it:
- Bring your family into the strongest part of your house.
- If your house begins to break get under a strong object or table. Turn off all your appliances.
- Keep an emergency kit in hand.
- Close all windows.
Maori connection:
Tāwhirimātea is the god of wind and storms.
Example of impact on NZ:
One of the most dangerous cyclones are called cyclone bola which hit us, New Zealand in 1998. It caused lots of damage to places that we never could of imagined. It causes people to panic in fear, it even destroyed houses and killed lots of people. Most of them were injured.
Interesting facts and trivia:
The word cyclones come from an old greek story about cyclops. Cyclones spin clockwise in the southern hemisphere. Anti clockwise in the northern hemisphere. Every cyclone has a name after a girl.
Conclusion:
To conclude these are some facts about cyclones and what to do in it. Be aware of a cyclone, From where it will start and end. I think you should stay away from cyclones or just stay inside.
